Anesthesia: We utilize the safest available anesthetics to ensure an extra margin of safety, especially for our older, high-risk, and pediatric patients. The patient's vital signs are monitored with respiratory monitors, EKGs and constant manual supervision during all anesthetic procedures.

Note: Having a sedated patient is a great time to trim nails, remove a mole, cut out mats and so forth.

Biopsy: For cancer patients, we may recommend biopsies following up surgery to identify the type of cancer present and also to see if cancer cells remain near the surgery site or nearby lymph nodes.

Our On-Call Surgery Specialist:

Dr. Paul Cechner, DVM, DACVS

Dr. Cechner is our mobile specialist who provides surgical services for a variety of orthopedic/soft tissue surgeries and for more complicated cases. He received his Doctor of Veterinary Medicine degree from University of Illinois in 1973 and completed his surgical residency in 1976 at Purdue University, where he continued his stay as Assistant Professor of Surgery. We are fortunate to have Dr. Cechner for his expertise in orthopedic surgery and our more specialized surgical cases.
